Planted to the tranquil Shangri-La of a sun warmed slope in Yarra Valley, TarraWarra was established 1983 by the founders of the Sussan and Sportsgirl brands. Philanthropists and patrons of the arts, Mr and Mrs Besen, AO and AO respectively, took a highly aesthetic approach to the pursuit of viticulture. Healthy soils and happy fauna were the means to an end, good wine comes from a sound ecology, but great wine needs the inspiration of a holistic engagement with the arts. It is here at Healesville that habitues can savour the Sauvignon while immersing themselves amongst the work of our national masters. The First Colonists to arrive in South Australia were brought to Kangaroo Island aboard HMS Buffalo in 1836. Sharing the journey was a veteran of the Royal Navy who had served aboard Lord Nelson's flagship HMS Victory. Frank Potts was an accomplished sailor and carpenter, he built many of the young colony's structures and trading vessels. Six generations later, the Potts family's precious plantings of Malbec have been a key component in many of the nation's most memorable and invaluable vintages for decades. In 1997, Michel Chapoutier set off to explore the terroirs of Australia and settled on the state of Victoria, renowned for its distinct soils and astonishing diversity of microclimates

With vineyards in the Pyrenees and Heathcote, the goal is to create world class wines that speak of the individual terroirs in which they are grown.Utilising Rhone varietals, Marsanne, Viognier, Grenache and Shiraz, Mathilde wines are selected for their individual characteristics. In the cool region of the Pyrenees, the Shay’s Flat Vineyard nestles in the ranges with a northeastern aspect on mixed red soils of schists, silt, quartz and clay. Producing high quality red especially Shiraz.

Planted to a steep, contoured slope on the Pyrenees Ranges, with high draining and low yielding quartz soil, the Landsborough Vineyard faces east and produces excellent whites, especially Chardonnay. On the famed Cambrian red soil of Heathcote is Touron's Lady’s Lane Vineayard. Dry grown Shiraz vines are naturally low yielding and produce a wine that is full flavoured, elegant and robust. All Tournon vineyards are farmed orgnanically and managed to yield the finest fruit in Australia.
